    Seven Success Factors that Talent Developers Could Learn from HRBPs

    A summary of a 2020 Qualitative Research Study on HRBP Development

    Too many talent development (TD) professionals complain about:

    1. Having to take orders from the business (commonly known as order-takers)

    2. Not being recognized or taken seriously for your TD expertise

    Working with the business can be challenging. Too often, sponsors dictate training that won’t improve performance. Subject-matter experts (SMEs) insist on content that won’t be meaningful or crucial to learners. At times, even TD management wants you to skip analysis (sometimes design) and get started developing what the business wants.

    This does not need to be your reality! How? Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) can show us the path! By changing how you work, you can elevate yourself from an order-taker to becoming a trusted advisor.

    In this webinar, Gary DePaul will share the HRBP success factors that describe how HRBPs strengthen their partnerships and contribute more effectively towards favorable business results. 

    Months before the 2022 HRBP Report is released, Dr. DePaul will share insights from the report to help you get and keep a seat at the table.

    Gary A. DePaul is a speaker, researcher, adjunct professor at UNCC, consultant, and podcaster specializing in leadership and talent development. He has published three books:

    Gary is the host of Unlabeled Leadership, a podcast ranked 14 on Feedspot’s Top 90 leadership podcasts of 2021. He hosts Your MAP (Monday Action Plan), in which he shares a one to two-minute video to start your week. 

    For sixteen years, Gary DePaul worked in HR and Learning & Development departments at organizations such as Lowe’s, Ceridian, Fidelity Information Services, Johnson Controls, and Arthur Andersen. He has managed multiple enterprise projects, teams, and departments.

    Gary has earned a PhD in Adult Learning from UIUC and is designated as a Certified Performance Technologist or CPT.

    Gary is now an entrepreneur, author, speaker, and independent researcher. He partners with HR and talent-development executives to build the health of their organizations, teams, and themselves. Some project examples include

    • Analyzing the effectiveness of mid-level and frontline managers
    • Redesigning enterprise onboarding and internship programs
    • Assessing and developing individual executives
    • Evaluating leadership development programs

Michael is also an executive coach, and keynote speaker, addressing audiences from 50 to 2,000 leaders.
