SESSION DETAILS

PART I: The Power of Microvideo: Creating Small Videos with Big Results

Get your laptops and videos assets together – you’re building microvideos for learning! This BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) session will review the structures of a microvideo and how to create a short form content that strikes a perfect balance between the use of emotion and instruction. You will use emotional pull in the first five seconds to draw your audience in, and then create optimal video content with reduced cognitive load for easy memory processing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand multimedia principles for learning
  • Use content blocks to plan your video structure
  • Create a microvideo structure that leverages emotion and reduces cognitive load
  • Build a microvideo using best practices

Requirements:
A video editing tool (Camtasia, Premiere, iMovie, wevideo.com, etc.) is required for this session.

PART II: Electrifying Interactive Video for Learning

Video has long been respected as a great tool for training, but has often been dismissed due to costs. That is changing, and a dramatic drop in production costs and a wide array of YouTube-framework solutions has accelerated the role of video in corporate training. The challenge for eLearning developers is to move beyond traditional linear experiences and incorporate engaging interactions on top of traditional video.

In this BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) session you will learn how to use HTML5 interactive-video frameworks to add to your learners’ mobile devices experience. You will review the planning process for interactive video including the available interaction types. You will also explore how you must modify the traditional video storyboarding process to accommodate the additional features present in a mobile environment.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The planning process for interactive video
  • Considerations for mobile delivery
  • How to implement an interactive video framework
  • Student training with interactive video interactions

Technology discussed in this session:
Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, HTML5 video, mobile UX design, and interactive video frameworks.

How to Vitalize Your Constructive Feedback Delivery!

What's worse for you as a leader? Going to the dentist or delivering constructive feedback?

Nine out of 10 managers prefer going to the dentist because at least there they can opt for laughing gas.

Even the most seasoned leaders dread giving feedback. Why? Because they never learned how to do it appropriately and painlessly!

If you want less pain in your delivery, learn Amy’s Top Seven Tips for providing constructive feedback to your employees.

Remember “It is BOTH what you say AND how you say it!”

The Art & Science of eLearning

We have a wealth of technology available to us when it comes to designing and creating e-Learning. Whether we are using Captivate, Articulate, or a simple PowerPoint, the technology we choose must merge with the science of adult learning principles in order to provide an optimal online learning experience. However, in order to maximize the impact, we must also attend to some basic graphic design concepts. In this session, we’ll review adult learning principles, the science of technology, and basic graphic design concepts and how to merge them in order to create more effective e-learning.

Synergy Leadership: Harnessing Your (Power) Energy for Maximum VOLTAGE

Identifying your Level of Energy and using it properly to IGNITE your future is the key to success.  In this inspiring and powerful presentation, you will identify the level of energy that you bring into the room, understand how your energy level interacts with others, and how to leverage your energy to work with others more effectively to create vibrant synergies that you may not have realized were possible.

Energized Listening Skill Enhancement

This program will provide participants with a unique experience in developing individual listening skills and a strong foundation in listening facilitation. Practical exercises, which will be documented so participants can easily use them in their organizations, will be shared with audience members.

Charge Up Your Gamification with Stories

This presentation explores some of the electronic tools used to create effective and engaging gamification and scenario learning. It explores how stories are used in both delivery methods to drive the learning and keep learners engaged.

AMP UP Your Debriefs

In this on-your-feet, high energy session, participants will learn how to observe behaviors during experiential activities and make connections to a variety of content topics.  Everyone in the room will have a role, either as a facilitator or a participant, as we develop debrief skills real-time, in the room.  Tire of the old standby activities? At the end of the session, everyone will have the opportunity to create a master list of training activities, and will provide years of training inspiration!
