Julia Kirby, LeanCor LLCJulia Kirby

LeanCor LLC

My career started at Hubbell Lighting as a Training Specialist, training the company's independent sales agents, distributors and contractors across the North Americas. To fulfill part of a marketing cooperative membership requirement, I began developing online training modules for the company's non-commercial lighting brands. As I began receiving requests to develop similar E-learning content for the commercial brands, the scope of development changed from one being purely educational to one with more of a marketing focus.

In 2010, I was hired on as the Chief Learning Officer at Warehouse Services Inc., where I traveled from site to site around the US and Canada to jump start improvement initiatives, train team members, spread best practices and conduct ISO 9001 compliance audits. It was during this time, I attended the 9 day Lean Supply Chain Professional course at Georgia Tech, hosted by Robert Martichenko and Kevin Von Grabe. I felt an immediate draw to the simplistic, engaging approach to learning and the 'No Problem is a Problem' culture that was and still is, LeanCor. o

About a year after I attended the course at Georgia Tech [2012], I began talking to Robert about developing virtual learning material to support LeanCor's existing training and education program. It was then that I developed and presented this business plan to the LeanCor board of directors… and here I am today!

He was an early adopter of technology investigating and using various software programs to create and deliver learning through the Internet and learning management systems.

He eventually earned certification as an instructional designer working for Wachovia, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Sunoco. Software experience includes Adobe Captivate, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Articulate Presenter, and Articulate Storyline as well as various web meeting and screen capture software.
